POLICY:
The Outpatient Surgery RN will interview the parents/caregivers over the phone 72 hours before surgery.
The Outpatient Surgery RN will also call the parents/caregivers 24 hours before surgery to evaluate the child's present health status i.e., symptoms of cold, fever, reinforce NPO orders, time of arrival, directions and answer any other questions.
PROCEDURE:
