The requirements for positioning of the surgical patient is a key factor for the performance of a safe and efficient surgical procedure. The patient's position shall provide optimum exposure and access to the operative site, shall sustain circulatory and respiratory function, shall not compromise neuromuscular structures and shall afford as much comfort to the patient as possible.
The patient shall be assessed prior to the procedure for the following:
Age
Height
Weight
Skin condition
Nutritional status
Physical limitations
Neuropathics
