Risers - vertical supply pipes in a sprinkler system
POLICY:
Every 12 months, the main drains at system low point or at all system risers shall be tested.
The results and completion date of the tests shall be documented and maintained in the Engineering office.
PROCEDURE:
Engineering staff shall:
Secure all water-flow alarms associated with the riser that is being tested.
Document the static pressure pressure gauge on the system riser.
Open the main drain valve all of the way.
After the flow of water has stabilized, document the residual pressure.
