The need to transport a patient out of or within the critical care unit will be carefully evaluated by the nurse in collaboration with appropriate care team members.
The following patients should not be moved unless absolutely necessary:
Hemodynamically unstable patients
Patients on inverse I:E ventilation ratios
Patients on time cycled pressure ventilation
Patients PEEP > 10 cm
The critical care RN is responsible for instituting CPR and Code Blue procedures while their patient is in other departments.

Patients transported via the elevator will enter feet first, making the head available from open doors.

Means by which patient was transported; who was present at the transport;

Upon return to unit a full re-assessment will be completed.
