Supplemental patient care staff are obtained through off-site agencies who maintain a valid written agreement with this hospital.
Elements of the agreement include off-site agency's responsibility for:
License verification
Educational preparation verification
Clinical competence
Prior to off-site agency nursing personnel assuming duty in the patient care areas, individuals will be checked for the possession of a valid, current nursing license as an RN or LPN/LVN. Individuals unable to present a valid license will not be allowed to assume their scheduled assignment.

All off-site agency nursing personnel will be evaluated upon their initial assignment by the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse of the patient care unit the agency nurse is assigned.
Individuals receiving acceptable evaluations of satisfactory or above in all categories will be re-evaluated on a periodic basis.
Registry nurses with a performance evaluation below satisfactory will not be allowed to return to work.
