The infusion device to be used at home will be determined by pharmacists, as well as nurses. Only equipment in compliance with the Safe Medical Device Act of 1990 SMDA are to be used by clients at home.
PROCEDURE:
The pharmacist and the nurse shall evaluate different infusion devices for their appropriate use in home care.
The evaluation must be inclusive of, but not limited to:
Infusion Therapy Services scope of service, i.e., TPN therapy, antibiotics
Ease of client use
Safety features i.e., alarms, electrostatic discharge ESD sensitivity, backup batteries
Accuracy
