For controlled substance Schedule II C-II prescriptions, a written triplicate prescription must be obtained except for emergency prescriptions. In an emergency situation a C-II prescription may be accepted and filled from verbal or telephone order. The physician must provide the triplicate prescription within 72 hours of the time the prescription was dispensed.
