The physical exam of each resident of this facility shall be updated annually by the primary physician.
PROCEDURE:
A complete history and physical examination will be completed by a primary physician 24 hours prior to admission or within 72 hours of admission to the facility.
The physician will be reminded, by means of a memo from a designated RN, about the time of the annual physical exam. It is usually not necessary to update the health history unless a stay in an acute hospital has been necessary.

If a physician has not updated the physical exam during the month that it is due, a designated RN will phone the physician's office to remind him/her. If the exam is not completed in a timely manner two 2] weeks another call will be placed by the Nurse Manager. If there is still no compliance within a two 2 week period, the facility's Medical Director will notify the physician of this deficiency by letter.
