All compounding personnel must properly complete a hand scrub before entering the clean room.
Hand scrub is performed in the ante-area at a sink that has a hands-free faucet.
Air dryer or disposable non-shedding towels will be used to dry hands and arms.
PROCEDURE:
Ante-Area:
Remove all jewelry from hands and forearms.
Fingernails should be kept short and well maintained.
Hand and forearms must be free of rashes, sunburn and breaks in skin integrity.
Hand scrub is performed after putting on shoe covers, head/facial covers, face mask.

Clean underneath fingernails, using a nail cleaner, under running warm water
Scrub:
Wet hands and forearms
Apply soap to hands and arm
Wash from fingertips to three 3 inches above elbows, for at least 30 seconds
Wash/scrub all four 4 sides of each finger as efficiently as possible
Rinse hands and arms thoroughly
Turn off water using hands-free faucet
Dry hands and arms with air dryer or non-shedding disposable towel
