Orders for blood products may be given by physicians credentialed for privileges in this facility.
Blood and blood products may be administered by Registered Nurses, physicians and LPNs/LVNs if state law and organizational policies allow.
The order is verified and patient lab work received for blood type/test results, prior to obtaining the blood/blood product. The label on the blood/blood product is verified with blood slip and patient medical record. The blood slip is signed by two 2 licensed nurses verifying proper identification.
